My wife and I have 5 granddaughters from ages (a few days old) up to age 6. Two of those girls, ages 3 and 5, live in the area and we take care of them for 80 hours each month while their mother teaches. I wanted to try these books out on the three year-old.
After introducing them to her the first time, she came in the house on a second day, and was about to walk right past the books. She stopped, looked at them, pointed, turned to me and said, "I like those books." Then she repeated herself two more times.
The older girl likes them, too.
With the "Five Little Rubber Duckies" book, they like to trace each number, count the ducks on the page, and move the small ducks at the top of the book. It's a big hit with them, over and over again.
Their reactions were similar with the "10, 9, 8...Owls Up Late." They put their fingers through the cut-outs on each page and enjoy counting.
Though we keep a lot of books around for them, these two have become fast favorites and are usually included in the piles they bring for us to read to them.
